Creating a Magical Christmas Dinner

Tis the season!

A season meant to be filled with joy and love, however, often without purpose we create it into a season of stress and overwhelm.

As creatures of habit and in a culture that is always on the move, not many of us slow down and pause to identify what it is we really want from the Christmas season.

With a little intention it’s possible to set this season up in a way that can feel more in line with your vision of this holiday.

Take some time today, maybe even right now, to stop everything you’re doing, close your eyes and dream up an ideal christmas celebration for yourself. Dream until you feel your heart warm and your body lighten.

Is this dream close to what you have now?

What can you add in or let go of to make this dream a reality?

Your celebration doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Whatever lights you up this season is meant for you!

As far as a Christmas Dinner goes there are a few things most of us want: delicious, warm food, amazing desserts and most importantly, connection.

What we’re really seeking from this season’s experience all tied up in a bow is connection to our people. How can you create more of an experience this year around your table? I encourage you to let yourself dream and come up with ideas that align with you. However, to support getting you into your Christmas dream state I will provide some ideas.

Creating Connection around the table:

  1. A new and intentional prayer
  2. Taking turns sharing gratitude around the table
  3. All electronics put away
  4. New and healthy foods to share
  5. A candlelit dinner
  6. Quiet, peaceful instrumental music in background
  7. Setting intention prior to beginning to eating such as slow and intentional eating or playing a conversational question game during or after dinner

One other important mention

Is there something you really dread about this season? Maybe it’s doing the dishes after the meal or buying a lot of presents. You’re in charge of how you want this to look. Plan ahead of time to do this differently. Ask someone else to do the dishes or set a new intention around gift giving. The options are endless! The most important thing is that you choose joy this holiday season and align with what you want out of it.

Spend some time to chill out and warm your soul this season with this recipe.

Simple and healthy hot cocoa

1 cup warmed Organic Valley 2% or whole milk

1 tbsp cocoa or cacao powder

Pinch of seat salt

1-2 tsp pure maple syrup

¼ tsp cinnamon

Warm milk on the stove and remove prior to boil. Add in remaining ingredients and mix well. Use a frother or blender to real mix it up and enjoy the creaminess.
